Two Answered Requests, 5/9/2010
- In Psalm 106 in the Authorized Version, the psalmist said, “He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul”. The psalmist made this comment based upon the story in Numbers 11. It is a solemn lesson for us — for we need to be constantly warned about the peril brought by greed.
- Greed is a bottomless pit. When you have but ten thousand, you’d want to have hundred thousand. But when you have a hundred thousand, you’d wish for a million. And one day you may actually have a million, and you’ll find that you’re not actually happier. You’ll either be wishing for many more millions, or you’ll have come to the realization that adding more zero’es to your net worth has brought nothing but zero to your net happiness. All that money cannot buy you more rest, more peace, more joy, more security, more love…
- In fact, all the truly precious eternal things in life money cannot buy.
